ATRAMA · REIMBURSEMENT GUIDE FOR LITHUANIA
Funding and reimbursement in Lithuania
The right support for you may cost less.
Lithuania’s Technical Assistance Centre (TPPC) may reimburse part of the purchase cost of a new rollator or shower stool. Here you will find amounts, conditions and a plan, from checks before buying to submitting your application.
This is not an automatic discount at checkout. You pay for the product, and TPPC awards reimbursement after assessing your application.
How much can be reimbursed in 2026?
FOR A ROLLATOR
up to €185
Wheeled walker
Up to 2.5 times the basic social benefit (BSI). The usual use period is 5 years.
Need is linked to leg weakness, instability or impaired balance; TPPC criteria concerning nursing or palliative-care needs also apply.
FOR A SHOWER STOOL
up to €148
Non-wheeled bath or shower chair
Up to 2 times the basic social benefit (BSI). The usual use period is 6 years.
This aid is provided for a person who uses a mobility or balance aid, such as a walking stick, crutches, walker or wheelchair. A medical conclusion does not need to be submitted for this category.
Reimbursement cannot exceed the amount actually paid for the aid. In 2026, 1 BSI equals €74. The amounts are category limits, not approval of every ATRAMA model or purchaser.
What might this look like in practice?
Calculation example: if you pay €400 for a rollator and receive the full €185 reimbursement, your final expense would be €215. This is an illustration, not a product offer or a promise that reimbursement will be awarded.
Who may qualify for reimbursement?
It may be available to people living in Lithuania who have declared their residence, or are included in the relevant register: those of retirement age, those with an established disability or participation level, and those recovering from an acute injury or illness or with motor-development disorders before a level has been established.
Age or a diagnosis alone is not enough: you must meet the need criteria for the chosen aid. If you have previously received a similar aid or reimbursement, first ask TPPC whether the required use period has ended.
Four steps to your application
01
Check before purchasing
Contact TPPC and identify the aid you want. Ask whether you qualify and whether previous provision affects eligibility. Rollator need may require a healthcare professional’s record, which the Centre checks in Lithuania’s e-health system.
02
Confirm the specific model
Tell ATRAMA which model and variant you are considering. Ask us to check its documentation for reimbursement. Purchase for this purpose only after confirming document availability and the TPPC conditions that apply to you.
03
Purchase and keep the documents
When ordering, tell us you intend to apply for reimbursement. Agree in advance whose name should appear on the purchase documents, especially if you are paying for a relative.
04
Submit your application to TPPC
You can apply through SPIS, at a TPPC branch, by registered post or by email signed with a qualified electronic signature. Use the official reimbursement application form, rather than the application to receive an aid from the Centre.
What should you prepare?
Purchase documents: an invoice and proof of payment, or another purchase document accepted by TPPC.
Product documentation: a declaration of conformity under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 and CE marking are required for a rollator or shower stool. For an aid manufactured abroad, a Lithuanian translation of the declaration signed by the translator is required.
Personal documents: the application and, depending on the submission method, proof of identity and representation. Medical information is needed when required for the specific aid.
Do not send diagnoses, your personal identification number or a copy of an identity document through the shop’s contact form. Submit health and identity documents to TPPC through its designated channels. For an initial enquiry to us, the product name is enough.
Frequently asked questions
Can a more expensive rollator be reimbursed?
The category sets a maximum reimbursement amount, not one retail price. If the aid and person meet the conditions, you pay the portion above the awarded reimbursement yourself. Check the specific model and documents before buying.
Is a rollator sold with a tray a “walking table”?
Not necessarily. TPPC defines a walking table as providing elbow support while walking. A removable breakfast tray does not by itself change the rollator category. Ask TPPC to assess any uncertain model.
Does a swivel seat make a stool a wheeled chair?
A swivel seat alone does not mean this. The complete construction and manufacturer’s intended use are assessed. Confirm the category separately for multipurpose shower/toilet chairs or unusual designs.
Can several bathroom aids be reimbursed at the same time?
Not always. Some bathroom and toilet aids are alternatives subject to a choice restriction. If you already have a bathroom aid supplied by the Centre, or want several aids, discuss this with TPPC first.
Are delivery and additional accessories reimbursed?
No. Reimbursement is for the new aid; ordering, delivery and separately purchased accessories are not included.
When should I apply and when will I receive payment?
For a first application, the purchase document must be no more than 9 months old. Apply promptly and follow TPPC’s notice if additional documents are requested. Reimbursement is paid within up to 30 working days from the payment decision, not from the purchase date.
Does ATRAMA guarantee that I will receive reimbursement?
No. TPPC decides based on your circumstances, the aid and documentation. ATRAMA can help clarify product information and document availability; the Centre confirms your personal eligibility.
CLARITY FIRST
Not sure where to start?
Tell us which rollator or shower stool you are considering and add: “I am interested in reimbursement.” Before ordering, we will confirm which documents we can provide for that specific model. Check your personal eligibility with TPPC.
