ATRAMA / BUYING GUIDE
How to choose a rollator
Modern rollators have changed perceptions of wheeled walkers. In Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands, they can be seen in everyday situations – on the way to the shops, in the park or when meeting friends. Put your shopping in the basket, sit down for a break along the way and carry on. A rollator becomes an everyday companion that makes leaving home more comfortable and helps you spend longer outdoors. Once you have experienced that convenience, you may want it beside you the next day too.

Your everyday routes and needs are the starting point.
What is a rollator?
A rollator is a wheeled walker, but today it can also be a practical everyday helper. You have support while walking, carry shopping or personal belongings in the basket and, when tired, stop and sit on the seat without searching for a bench. Depending on the model, removable bags, reflectors, lights and walking-stick or umbrella holders add convenience. It can make preparing for the day easier, from a shopping trip to a longer walk.
People of different ages choose rollators to move more comfortably and do more independently:

Your height and measurements
Measure your height (A) and the distance from the floor to your wrist (B). Compare these with the sizing recommendations on the product page. Height helps identify the frame size, while wrist height helps check whether you can set the handles comfortably.

Handle height
Wearing your usual shoes, stand upright and let your arms hang loosely. The handles should be level with your wrists. When holding them, your shoulders should stay relaxed and your elbows slightly bent.

Seat height and width
When seated, both feet should rest comfortably on the floor, and the seat should be wide enough to sit comfortably. Also consider whether sitting down and standing up are easy. Engage both parking brakes before sitting.
How to choose the right model
Think about where you will use the rollator most: at home, in the city or in nature. Perhaps being able to take it travelling matters most. Choose your situation below to find an explanation and suitable models.
Outdoor and all-terrain
Woodland roots, stones, gravel roads and softer ground require greater terrain capability. Large wheels, appropriate tyres and a construction designed to negotiate obstacles matter here.
Consider an off-road model if these surfaces are a regular part of your routes. Also assess its weight and transport space.
Indoor mobility
If you need support between rooms, at the table or in the kitchen, look for an indoor model. Dimensions, manoeuvrability and being able to approach furniture comfortably matter here.
A tray or bag can help transport everyday items. Some models have a seat, but check its purpose and permitted uses separately.
Į KĄ ATKREIPTI DĖMESĮ
Rollator weight
A lighter rollator is easier to lift, put in a car or take travelling. Larger wheels and a more complex construction usually add weight, but may improve comfort on uneven paths. Frame material and included accessories also affect weight. Ask yourself: will you carry the rollator more often, or walk longer distances with it?

Wheels and tyres
Smaller wheels are convenient on smooth floors, while larger wheels roll more easily over paving joints and uneven paths. Wider tyres sink less into soft ground. Pneumatic tyres soften the ride but require pressure checks. Puncture-proof tyres need less maintenance, and their softness depends on the material. The key question is which surfaces you usually walk on.
Brakes and parking function
Brakes let you control movement while walking, and the parking function secures the rollator when stopped. On firm, level ground, engage both parking brakes before sitting. When choosing, assess whether the levers are easy to reach, squeeze and lock – these are actions you will perform every day.

Handles and ergonomics
The handles are where you feel the rollator with every step. They should be comfortable to grip and provide enough support for your palms. Broader ergonomic grips distribute pressure over a larger palm area, and an adjustable angle helps you find a comfortable wrist position. The correct height allows relaxed shoulders and slightly bent elbows.
